Elora Fedorus
Elora Ferdous is an experienced Emergency Management professional with over 15 years in emergency management, emergency preparedness, and resilience-building. She currently serves as Program Specialist for the Emergency Management Program at Niagara Region, where she leads strategic planning, interdepartmental coordination, and public education initiatives. Elora holds a Master’s in Disaster and Emergency Management from York University and is an alternate Community Emergency Management Coordinator (CEMC). She brings international experience across South and Southeast Asia in disaster and resilience-building programs. She has extensive experience in municipal and regional emergency programs, volunteer engagement, and stakeholder collaboration.
Denise MacDearmid
Denise MacDearmid has been with the Town of Gillam for 11 years and prior to becoming the CAO, held the role of Emergency Services Manager. In that role which included the role of MEC, Denise spent countless hours focused on emergency planning and preparedness and recently completed all the courses to be certified through MAMEC. Denise has supported her community through an aircraft crash, a manhunt for 2 armed and dangerous fugitives, COVID-19, and most recently hosting Tataskweyak Cree Nation during 2 evacuations from their community. In her spare time, Denise likes to snowshoe, kayak and cycle and is an avid Winnipeg Blue Bombers fan.district director, and now a board member.
Jayson Oliver
Jayson Oliver is an elected official with the Town of Gillam and serves as Ops & Maintenance Support Section Head at Manitoba Hydro. A long-time resident of Gillam, Manitoba, he brings over 40 years of lived experience working and leading in northern communities. Jayson has more than 15 years of leadership experience across hydroelectric operations and rail transportation, leading teams in safety-critical, remote environments across multiple provinces. A licensed Power Electrician, he has progressed through operational and supervisory roles at Manitoba Hydro and previously served six years as a Councillor for the Town of Gillam. His work focuses on community-centric operations, stakeholder collaboration, and building resilient infrastructure that supports both people and sustainable growth in the North.
